Grants Roundup: Home Depot, NFL, and PepsiCo Foundations Pledge Millions to Hurricane Harvey Relief

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:
Hurricane Harvey Relief
Some grant makers and corporations have made commitments to support recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey along the Gulf Coast.
Among them:
Amazon will match up to $1 million in cash donations made through Amazon.com to the American Red Cross.
The Home Depot Foundation committed $1 million to nonprofits including the American Red Cross, Convoy of Hope, Operation Blessing, Salvation Army, and Team Rubicon.
The Houston Texans football team and the National Football League Foundation each committed $1 million to the United Way of Greater Houston Relief Fund.
The PepsiCo Foundation committed $1 million to the American Red Cross.
Walmart and the Walmart Foundation committed at least $1 million in cash and product donations.
Google.org committed $250,000 to the American Red Cross and will match employee donations up to $250,000 to organizations that include Save the Children and Team Rubicon.
The Allergan Foundation committed $100,000 to the American Red Cross.
Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation
$120 million to create the University of Arkansas School of Art, which will work in partnership with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
$25 million to Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering to create a Medicines for All Institute and support its work increasing access across the world to medicines for diseases including HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis.
Cedars-Sinai
More than $4.8 million to nonprofits in the Los Angeles region that provide physical and mental-health care to populations that include homeless people, disadvantaged youths, and immigrants.
Charles Koch Foundation
$3.32 million to the Center for Peace and Security Studies at the University of California at San Diego, which studies cybersecurity, military automation, and big-data intelligence. The grant will support researchers, fellows, and public-outreach efforts.
Marge & Charles J. Schott Foundation
$3.13 million to the Trauma Center and Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and the UC College of Medicine to support an endowed chair, research, training for surgical intensive-care unit nurses, and physical upgrades to the unit.
Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute
$1.5 million to the University of California at Irvine to establish the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Presidential Chair in Art History & Archaeology of Ancient Iran.
Google.org
$1 million to create a nonprofit accelerator with the Latino Community Foundation, which will support organizations that serve and are led by Latinos in the Bay Area.
The Wine Spectator Scholarship Foundation
$1 million to the Washington State University Viticulture and Enology Program, to expand a wine-science laboratory and provide student scholarships.
