Grants Roundup: N.C. State Gets $45 Million for Plant Research

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:
Golden LEAF Foundation
$45 million to North Carolina State University to support a new research facility for the North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative.
Rose Community Foundation
$4.2 million in the first six months of the year to multiple education, health, and social-service organizations, most of them in and around Denver. Recipients include Volunteers of American Colorado Branch, Colorado Youth for a Change, and Strive Preparatory Schools.
Independence Blue Cross Foundation
$1.5 million to support nursing students at schools in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Diana Davis Spencer Foundation
$1 million to Philadelphia University to create a fellowship for entrepreneurship education.
