$50 Million Donation Expands U. of Chicago Financial Aid

February 17, 2016

Tech investor Michael Moritz and his wife, Harriet Heyman, have given $50 million to the University of Chicago to boost financial-aid programs for low-income students, writes The New York Times.

The donation, due to be announced Wednesday, echoes the couple’s July 2012 gift for student aid at the University of Oxford in Britain, valued at the time at more than $117 million. Mr. Moritz is the chairman of Silicon Valley venture-capital firm Sequoia Capital. Ms. Heyman is a product of Chicago public schools and attended the University of Chicago.
