Ex-Head of Medical Group Gets 4 Years in $2 Million Theft

February 3, 2016

The former executive director of a nonprofit that supports pathology research has been sentenced to four years in prison for stealing more than $2 million from the organization, The Washington Post reports.

Michael Parry, 59, of Windermere, Fla., pleaded guilty in September to funneling money from the Maryland-based American Registry of Pathology into a personal account. Prosecutors said Mr. Parry, who joined the organization in 1998 and led it from 2011 to 2014, used fake invoices and fabricated emails, supposedly related to medical studies and grants, to support a “lavish lifestyle with multiple residences.”
