NYC Charity for Kids’ Mental Health Folds in Face of Debt

With $7 million in unpaid federal and state payroll taxes, a major children’s nonprofit in Queens, N.Y., has begun the process of shutting down, the Daily News reports.

Steinway Child and Family Services, which provided mental health, social, and residential services to children in need, is $10 million in the red and failed to make payroll multiple times since 2013. CEO Mary Redd earned a salary of $192,385 in 2013, the most recent year for which figures are available.
