Halloween Brings Revenue Boost at Some Charities

October 30, 2015

For some nonprofits, such as those with second-hand stores or seasonally appropriate event planning, Halloween can mean a revenue boost, The Wall Street Journal reports.

For example, Goodwill Industries, which has 3,000 retail locations, uses its website, storefront ads, and billboards to attract costume- and decoration-hunting shoppers. October sales are generally 15 percent higher than other months. Last year, it saw $3.94 billion in retail sales, money that supports its job-training and placement programs.
