Ice-Bucket Challenge Funds to Pay for Tests of New ALS Drug

Funded by money raised during last year’s Ice Bucket Challenge, the ALS Therapy Development Institute, a nonprofit Cambridge biotech company, is planning to begin human tests of a new drug for the disease next year, the Boston Business Journal reports.

Of the $3.9 million total raised by the challenge, $1.5 million will support the human trials.
