Background: Mr. Robertson founded Tiger Management Corporation, a hedge fund.

Mr. Robertson, 82, gave $76-million to his Robertson Foundation. The philanthropy awarded grants totaling $101-million in 2014, primarily to cancer research, climate-change groups, and public-school education programs.

He also gave a total of $9-million to various charities, including $2-million each to the Environmental Defense Fund and Families for Excellent Schools and $1-million to the Rare Cancer Research Foundation.
