Background: Mr. Weiser founded McKinley Associates, a real-estate investment firm. He served as U.S. Ambassador to Slovakia from 2001 to 2004.
The Weisers pledged $50-million to the University of Michigan. Of the total, $25-million will go toward the Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies, and the remainder will support the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts; the Stephen M. Ross School of Business; the School of Education; the University Musical Society; and the university’s health system and athletics department.
The Weisers are alumni. He graduated in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and she graduated in 1975 with a master’s degree in music. The couple gave $10-million in 2008 to establish the Weiser Center.
