Teach for America Veterans Find a Welcome at Google

Education nonprofit Teach for America has become something of a pipeline to work at Google, Business Insider writes. The tech giant employs more than 100 veterans of the teacher-training program, which sends recent college graduates into low-income urban and rural school districts to teach for two years.

Google has a partnership with Teach for America that allows prospective hires to defer joining the firm to complete their teaching stint. “TFA graduates have to coach their students in an environment where motivation isn’t always a given … and solve very complex problems that require patience, perseverance, and commitment—things we really value at Google,” said Meghan Casserly, a company spokeswoman.H
