Poll: Most Voters Back Tight Rules on Nonprofit Politicking

More than eight in 10 voters favor stronger regulation of political activity by nonprofit organizations, according to a new survey done for the liberal watchdog group Public Citizen and the conservative Hudson Institute, The Hill reports.
Eighty-six percent of respondents said it is important to have clear rules on nonprofit politicking in place, and 80 percent believe donors and political operatives take advantage of blurry lines in current regulations. Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen said the agency will propose new regulations in 2015, after an effort to do so this year ran into fierce criticism from both right and left.
