September 4, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

Food company Land O’Lakes has pledged $25-million to the University of Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

About $4-million will be shared by several schools including the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Science. The remaining $21-million will go to the athletics department, the anchor of a $190-million fundraising campaign, and will fund a 60,000-square-foot “center for excellence” in a new athletics village.

In addition to construction costs, the gift will support student-athlete activities, including matching students with jobs and training opportunities at Minnesota companies.

The Land O’Lakes gift will be given to the university over 10 years starting in 2015.
