A global poll of high-net-worth individuals found that wealthy Americans consider it less important than do their peers in many countries to use their time and resources to make a positive impact in the world, writes The New Republic.
Among Americans with investments of at least $1-million surveyed by wealth-management firm Capgemini, 56 percent said having a positive social impact is “very” or “extremely” important. That response was below the global average of 60.5 percent and placed the United States 16th among 23 countries ranked, far behind India, China, and Indonesia, where about 90 percent of rich individuals placed great store in having a positive effect.
