June 13, 2014

Three large abstract paintings and five bronze sculptures by Cy Twombly have been donated to London’s Tate Modern per the late modernist’s wishes, according to the BBC and The New York Times.

The works, collectively valued at approximately $84-million, have been on display at the Tate since 2010, a year before the artist’s death at the age of 83. The London gallery had a long association with Mr. Twombly and mounted a major retrospective devoted to him in 2008.
