The makers of the next “Star Wars” film are launching a contest to raise money for Unicef programs by raffling off a chance to appear in the movie, Variety reports.
In a video from the Abu Dhabi set of “Star Wars: Episode VII,” director J.J. Abrams outlines the Star Wars: Force for Change effort, aimed at “finding creative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems” by supporting Unicef Innovation Labs and Programs, which develops projects to improve the lives of children worldwide.
Fans who donate at least $10 through the web page at charity-contest site Omaze will be entered in a prize draw for a chance to be Mr. Abrams’s on-set guest when production moves to Pinewood Studios in London and to shoot a scene for the film. The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on July 18.
