Nebraska Groups Share $33-Million from Anonymous Donor

Dozens of charities and other groups in the Lincoln, Neb., area have received portions of a stock gift valued at $33-million from an unnamed local philanthropist, reports the Lincoln Journal Star.
The gift consists of shares in Nebraska-based Farmers & Merchants Investment Inc., the majority owner of Union Bank & Trust, which is making disbursements to 41 organizations on behalf of the anonymous donor. The beneficiaries range from churches, small community charities, and the village of Douglas, Neb. (population 173), to large institutions like the Salvation Army and the University of Nebraska Foundation.
