Background: Mr. Perelman is chairman and chief executive of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings and chairman of Revlon.

Mr. Perelman, 70, pledged $25-million to establish the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from the university in 1964 and 1966, respectively.


In addition to the university pledge, he gave away a total of more than $20.9-million last year to nonprofits that support arts and culture, children and youths, education, health, religion, and other programs. He also pledged $1-million to the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, $1-million to the Apollo Theater Foundation, and $1-million to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City for Superstorm Sandy relief.

He plans to make payments toward his $25-million commitment in the coming years.
