Top beneficiary: Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida

Background: Mr. Golisano founded Paychex, a company that provides payroll and personnel services.

Mr. Golisano, 71, pledged $20-million to the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida to expand the medical center, $10-million of which is set up as a matching gift.


In addition, he pledged $12-million to Special Olympics International to establish its Healthy Communities program, which will provide health-care services to people with intellectual disabilities in Arizona, Florida, Kansas, New Jersey, New York, and Wisconsin as well as in Malawi, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Romania, South Africa, and Thailand

He also gave nearly $1.3-million to the Clinton Global Initiative to support its annual conference, which Mr. Golisano has helped to underwrite since it was established in 2005.

Mr. Golisano will pay the Children’s Hospital pledge over the next several years and the Special Olympics pledge over the next four years.
