Walton Family Foundation’s Grants: a Sampling

KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) (San Francisco): $8.7-million given in 2010 to help this national network start more charter schools.
Ocean Conservancy (Washington), Greater New Orleans, and Oxfam (Boston): More than $2-million given in 2010 to be divided among the three charities to develop a plan that simultaneously improves ecosystems, stimulates economic development, and improves the lives of people in areas affected by last year’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Teach for America (New York): $22.9-million to be given in 2010 and 2011 to the nonprofit, which places recent college graduates as teachers in public schools.
Walton Arts Center (Fayetteville, Ark.): $1-million given in 2010 to help the organization present major Broadway-style performances as part of its regular programs.
