February 4, 2011 | Read Time: 1 minute

The new White House Council for Community Solutions is holding its first meeting today, and you can eavesdrop by watching the live stream on the White House Web site.

The panel, appointed by President Obama in December to advise the federal government on ways to promote innovative social projects and get more people involved in civic affairs, is meeting from 9:15 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern time.

The council is headed by Patty Stonesifer, the former chief executive of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation who now chairs the Smithsonian Institution board, and includes 24 other nonprofit, foundation, and business leaders as members.
