The State of Giving Research in Europe: Household Donations to Charitable Organizations in Twelve European Countries
edited by Pamala Wiepking
This report looks at how research on charitable giving is being conducted in Europe, examining Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Pamala Wiepking, an assistant professor at VU University Amsterdam, notes that while fund raising has long been conducted in Europe, scholars have not yet built a strong body of research on giving trends.”For most countries, both population surveys and aggregated data on giving are available. However, the majority of surveys have been conducted in an ad hoc manner and lack consistency over time and between countries, making it difficult to draw useful comparisons.”
