Philanthropist and arts supporter Eli Broad will donate funds to build a new art museum at Michigan State University, reports The Detroit News.
The News reported the gift would fall somewhere between $25-million and $30-million, figures supported by The New York Times, which reported a precise value of $26-million.
Mr. Broad graduated from Michigan State in 1954 and has supported other art museums, including a $50-million gift to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The planned building at the university would more than quadruple the space available to display works on campus. Michigan State’s current museum houses 7,000 works of art in 10,000 square feet.
