May 21, 2007
A charity in New Mexico has fired its executive director amid suspicions that he mismanaged federal grant money, reports the Associated Press. The director of the charity, Kevin Jackson, is the mayor of Rio Rancho, the town where the organization is located.
Mr. Jackson has denied any wrongdoing in his role as director of Best Choice Educational Services. Investigators are examining whether grant money was misappropriated for salaries, improper donations, and travel expenses, its board chair tells the news agency.
