Federal Government Investigates El Paso Charity
May 16, 2007
The National Center for the Employment of the Disabled is under investigation for selling chemical-warfare suits to the military, reports the Associated Press.
The charity has been accused of not meeting the terms of its federal contracts requiring that at least 75 percent of its employees be severely disabled or blind.
The charity has been in legal trouble before: Its former chief executive Robert E. Jones was accused of defrauding the charity out of millions of dollars. The group, now called Ready One Industries, settled the lawsuit with Mr. Jones last year. Mr. Jones has denied any wrongdoing.
