May 9, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

The president of the Foundation Center, in New York, has announced she will retire in 2008 after 20 years at the organization, according to a Foundation Center announcement.

Sara L. Engelhardt, who joined the organization as executive vice president in 1987 and has been president since 1991, has been working with the board on a succession plan since she informed them of her plans last year. The board intends to conduct a national search for a successor.

During Ms. Engelhardt’s tenure, the organization’s budget grew from $8-million to $20-million, and she oversaw many efforts to improve its collection of data and the creation of its online database.
