Fund Gives $50-Million for Heart-Research Center

The Atlantic Philanthropies has given $50-million toward the creation of a cardiovascular-research center at the University of California, San Francisco, reports the Associated Press.
The $241-million Cardiovascular Research Institute is scheduled to be completed by 2011.
Atlantic Philanthropies gave an earlier $20-million donation to the school. The latest gift carries a requirement that it be matched by other donors.
