17-Inch Horse to Raise $1-Million for Children

March 22, 2007

Thumbelina, a full-grown horse shorter than many dogs, will be used to raise $1-million for children’s charities over the next year, reports the Associated Press.

At 17 inches tall, Thumbelina has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s shortest horse. That status has given her a cachet that her owners hope will translate into fund-raising prowess.

The owners, who breed miniature horses (most at least 30 inches tall), plan to take Thumbelina on a tour of children’s clinics, schools, fairs, camps, and charity events nationwide.
