Jerry Yang, the co-founder of Yahoo, and his wife, Akiko Yamazaki, have donated $75-million to Stanford University, reports the Palo Alto Daily News.

Most of the donation is earmarked for construction of a new environmental studies building, and $5-million of the donation is intended to help build a Learning and Knowledge Center at Stanford’s School of Medicine. The remaining $20-million will be used for projects to be determined later.

Mr. and Ms. Yang are 1990 graduates of the university. Mr. Yang also received a master’s degree from Stanford and was working toward a doctorate in 1994 when he helped create Yahoo, the Internet service, with another Stanford student Dave Filo.
