Fake E-Mail Messages Claim to Be From Charity Watchdog

E-mail messages falsely claiming to come from the Better Business Bureau actually contained a computer virus, reports The Washington Post.
The Council of Better Business Bureaus, a network of nonprofit groups that monitor businesses and charities, did not send the messages, which informed thousands of businesses that they were the subject of a complaint and included a link to view more information. The messages actually allowed the virus into the recipient’s address book and sent the e-mail message to more people.
The watchdog group says that any e-mail message containing a return address of “operations@bbb.org” or a link with a complaint case number is counterfeit, the newspaper reports.
