Charity Runner Comes Up Short

January 23, 2007

An 18-year-old man who attempted to run 200 miles in 48 hours to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Orange Country stopped 76 miles short after developing sore feet, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Ninety miles and 22 hours into his run, Jesse Zwieg’s feet began to ache from the pounding they took on sidewalks. He continued another 34 miles before he conceded defeat.

Despite his not finishing, the hospital will still receive the $20,000 in pledges that Mr. Zwieg collected.
