Kevin Bacon: One Degree From Charity

January 18, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

The actor Kevin Bacon thought the game might go away, but now he’s planning on using “six degrees” to help charity, reports USA Today.

“Six degrees” refers to efforts to link any famous person to Mr. Bacon within six steps through ties to his movies and other connections.

Mr. Bacon is establishing a charitable-giving Web site, Sixdegrees.org, this week to link people to the charitable work of their favorite celebrities. Several organizations are helping to coordinate the new social network, including Network for Good, AOL, and Entertainment Weekly.

The site already has lined up such names as Nicole Kidman, Will Ferrell, and Jessica Simpson. Among its features will be a badge system to link users to their favorite charities.
