Holiday Shoppers Seek Gifts With a Purpose

Charity managers are seeing an increase in holiday-season donations made on behalf of friends and family members, reports The New York Times.
Many charities are promoting such gifts by linking specific donation levels to tangible items, such as an $18 can of worms for a farmer in Ecuador. But giving experts urge caution since not all recipients would appreciate the gesture, and some people may not want to be added to a charity’s fund raising list for future solicitations, the paper reports.
In a related story, the Case Foundation has compiled an online gift-giving guide with suggestions for charity donations, the Times reports.
