New Think Tank Established
November 15, 2006
A group of scientists and advocates of church-state separation announced yesterday the formation of a Washington think tank designed to promote “rationalism” as the basis of public policy, reports The Washington Post.
Paul Kurtz, founder of the Center for Inquiry-Transnational and an emeritus professor of philosophy at the State University of New York at Buffalo, came up with the idea for the group. He said the methods of science “are being challenged culturally in the United States today as never before.”
The new organization will lobby and litigate on behalf of science-based decision making and against religion in government.
