Oprah Donates Debit Cards for Charity

November 1, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

Oprah Winfrey has given 300 audience members on her show debit cards worth $1,000 each that they can use to contribute to the charities of their choice, reports The Associated Press.

Oprah has given cars and other financial assistance to her audience in the past, but she told The Associated Press that the debit cards were her “favorite giveaway ever.” She added that she hoped the cards would allow audience members to experience the same happiness that being a philanthropist has brought to her.

Audience members can donate the $1,000 to one organization or person in need, or they can split it up among many groups. In addition, they will record their experiences on DVD for a future show.
