A trip to film a documentary in one of the driest places on earth inspired the actor Matt Damon to help start a charity to support clean water programs on the African continent, reports The Associated Press.
Mr. Damon and the production team working on Running the Sahara, a documentary that follows ultra-marathoners as they attempt to run across the African desert, founded H2OAfrica to raise awareness and help programs that provide clean water. He said the water crisis facing the world is at its worst in Africa.
The organization will identify areas in need of clean water as it crosses the continent during filming, the news agency reports.
