Muslim Charity Worker Killed in Iraq
October 10, 2006
Abdul-Sattar Abdullah Al-Mashhadani, director of programs in the Baghdad office of Life for Relief and Development, a Muslim charity in Southfield, Mich., was shot Saturday in Iraq at a checkpoint guarded by sectarian militia, reports The Associated Press.
Officials at the charity said Mr. Al-Mashhadani, who was 43, is the first staff member killed during sectarian violence in Iraq.
Federal agents raided the charity’s U.S. offices last month, but no one was charged with wrongdoing.
