September 27, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

Last Saturday, seven staff members of the World Wildlife Fund, as well as several government officials, died in a helicopter crash in Nepal, reports Bloomberg Canada. No survivors were found.

The crash is being blamed on poor weather conditions. The helicopter had been returning from a ceremony during which the management of a conservation project was given over to local communities.

The staff members who were killed were: Jill Bowling, conservation director at WWF United Kingdom; Chandra Gurung, country representative at WWF Nepal; Harka Gurung, adviser at WWF Nepal; Jennifer Headley, coordinator at WWF UK; Yeshi Choden Lama, senior program officer at WWF Nepal; Matthew Preece, program officer at WWF Eastern Himalayas; and Mingma Norbu Sherpa, managing director at WWF Eastern Himalayas.
