September 8, 2006

A former senior accountant at the Paralyzed Veterans of America was sentenced to 16 months in prison and three years of supervised release for stealing more than $180,000 from the group, reports The Associated Press.

She had entered a guilty plea in June, according to a Department of Justice press release.

The accountant, Delores K. Compton, will also have to repay the money she stole.
