Opera Plans Broadcasts in Movie Theaters

Hoping to expand its audience, the Metropolitan Opera, in New York, will begin broadcasting live performances in high definition and surround sound in movie theaters in the United States, Britain, and Canada, reports The New York Times.
On December 30, Die Zauberflote will be the first show broadcast, and tickets are expected to cost around $18; operas will eventually be shown in 200 to 300 theaters.
