Mass. Hospital Executives’ Salaries Criticized
September 1, 2006
Chief executives at nonprofit hospitals in Massachusetts received substantial pay and benefit increases in fiscal year 2005, with most of the largest medical institutions for the first time paying their top managers more than $1-million, reports The Boston Globe.
The Massachusetts Nurses Association, the state’s largest health care union, derided the compensation as excessive. The hospitals said such lucrative deals are needed to attract good leaders.
