Gulf Coast Libraries to Get Millions of Dollars in Grants

Libraries destroyed by Hurricane Katrina could receive as much as $17-million from private sources.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in Seattle, announced that it will allot $12.2-million to build temporary shelters for public libraries in the Gulf Coast region, The New York Times reports.
Also, the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, created by two former U.S. presidents to raise money from private sources, will give up to $5-million to eight libraries in the region for repairs and reconstruction.
