Federal prosecutors are using more than 8,000 pages of Israeli intelligence as the cornerstone of their criminal case against officials at an Islamic charity accused of providing support to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The reliance on this source of information was disclosed in court papers filed in a lawsuit involving the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, in Richardson, Tex., the newspaper said.
Critics have raised concerns that the information might not be reliable, especially because of the long-simmering tensions between Israel and Hamas.
Federal prosecutors and Israeli Embassy officials did not comment on the article. Officials of the Holy Land Foundation deny any wrongdoing.
