‘Housing First’ Strategy Gains Momentum

A relatively new strategy to fight homelessness, known as “housing first,” appears to have reduced the numbers of chronically homeless people in more than 20 cities, reports The New York Times.

The strategy, which includes putting homeless people into apartments with no strings attached, has made headway in cities like Philadelphia, where the number of chronically homeless individuals has declined 60 percent over five years.
