Paternity Test Will Settle Italian Estate Dispute

A paternity test will help settle an estate dispute in Italy over whether a local woman is the illegitimate half-sister of Sir Harold Acton, who left his villa in Florence to New York University, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Mr. Acton died childless and bequeathed his estate to the university in 1994. The gift remains one of the largest ever given to an American university.
An Italian judge has given lawyers until September to present results of a paternity test to determine whether the children of Liana Beacci, a local hotel owner who died in 2000, are in fact the legal heirs to the estate. (A paid subscription is required to view this article.)
