Candy Couple Gives $25-Million to U. of Chicago

Ellen and Melvin Gordon, owners of Tootsie Roll Industries, pledged $25-million to the University of Chicago to support a new $200-million science facility, reports the Chicago Tribune. Ellen Gordon said the gift was motivated by the couple’s interest in medical education and scientific research.
