Rockefeller Grant to Help Rebuild New Orleans
April 20, 2006
The Rockefeller Foundation, in New York, has pledged $3.5-million to help New Orleans come up with a plan for rebuilding the city, reports The New York Times.
The six-month planning effort, led by the new Community Fund Support Organization, will bring together architects, urban planners, and other experts, and will include meetings in New Orleans and other cities that are home to people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Billions of dollars in community-development grants are on hold until the city designs a comprehensive plan.
A press release on the grant is available online.
