Wis. Congressman to Donate Campaign Money
April 6, 2006
Rep. Paul Ryan, Republican of Wisconsin, announced he will donate to charity $27,500 in campaign contributions that he received from the political-action committee for Rep. Tom DeLay, Republican of Texas, reports the Associated Press. Mr. DeLay has said he will not seek re-election. A former senior aide for Representative DeLay pleaded guilty last week to conspiracy charges, and Mr. Ryan says he wishes “to remove any doubt” about the money he received.
The gift will support the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” events in southeastern Wisconsin.
