Adding to the criticism leveled against the American Red Cross for its efforts after Hurricane Katrina, the British Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross, in Geneva, issued reports saying the American counterpart showed a “dangerous combination of ignorance and arrogance” in responding to Katrina, reports The Washington Post.
Both groups sent personnel to the Gulf Coast, and said the American Red Cross was ineffective. The two reports were prepared in September but not released by the American group until Tuesday, after the Post requested a copy from the British group. The American Red Cross renewed its pledge to overhaul its disaster response, reports the Associated Press.
