The Barnes Foundation, in Merion, Pa., will receive $25-million from the state to rebuild its gallery of Impressionist and post-Impressionist art in downtown Philadelphia, Gov. Ed Rendell announced Tuesday, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The state money goes toward the organization’s goal of raising $100-million to construct a new building so the museum can move from its location in a Philadelphia suburb. The organization is also trying to build a $50-million endowment.
