Clerk Gets 10 Years for Art-Center Theft
March 28, 2006
An Orange County, Calif., judge sentenced an employee who was convicted of stealing $1.85-million over five years from the Orange County Performing Arts Center to 10 years in prison, reports the Los Angeles Times. The clerk, Ana Limbaring, wrote in a letter to the judge that she gambled with the money and told herself someday she would be able to pay the money back, “by winning big,” the Times reports.
The arts center has since changed auditing companies and hired an additional finance worker to divide the duties of making bank deposits and reconciling bank statements.
